Honoring the Legacy of Louise Luring
Louise Luring served on the Our Place board for a quarter of a century, and for most of that time, she was the board secretary. She’s been a force behind the organization’s ability to build a supportive community and raise funds. If you’ve ever been to an Empty Bowl event, Louise was there to greet you. If you were on the board, you know her insistence on order and efficiency. Maybe you volunteer at Our Place because of an introduction made by Louise. Maybe she made you laugh as she served you a piece of pie or a cup of strong black coffee.
Louise was an energetic supporter of Our Place and our mission to provide food to our neighbors in need with dignity and respect. Will you please honor her service and continue her vision? Organize a fundraiser
Many local community organizations organize donation drives for Our Place, including the Bellows Falls Woman’s Club, Bellows Falls Union High School, Central Elementary School, and Vermont Academy at their annual Pumpkin Run. Monetary donations are the most effective way to help Our Place continue to provide nutritious meals for people in our community. If you are interested in holding a fundraiser, please contact us!
Food donations are accepted at Our Place Community Food Center at 4 Island Street, Bellows Falls, VT, on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please donate the same quality of food that you would want your family to eat, meaning that it is not damaged or expired. We accept non-perishable foods as well as fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy and other refrigerated foods, frozen foods, etc.
In the cold winter months, we accept coats, hats, gloves, and boots.
Check our Events page and Facebook page for information on our annual events, including the Empty Bowl Dinner and Overflow the Opera House, when we set special goals for community donations.
